Nalgonda: District Collector P Satynarayana Reddy
said that the district administration was expecting nearly 1.50 crore
devotees to take a holy dip in the Krishna River in the district during
the Pushkaralu.
Addressing the media here on Saturday at Collectorate along with
the Superintendent of Police Prakash Reddy, he said that works of
Pushkaralu were almost finished and now the district administration was
focusing on the amenities and security of the devotees to make the
pushkaralu event a grand success.
He informed that during the 2004 Krishna Pushkaralu, the
government provided only 11 pushkar ghats in 11 villages covering five
mandals, but this time, the State government provided 28 Pushkar Ghats
along the river belt in 9 mandals.
Explaining other details, he said to monitor the ghats from time
to time, seven officials were appointed as monitoring and nodal
officers. In addition to this, 28 officers were appointed as Ghat
in-charge officers and under these, individual officers and 11 line
department officers would render their services round the clock in
three shifts, he added.
He further informed that Tahsildars and MPDOs were appointed as
in-charges of control rooms and they would work in shifts. For the
safety of devotees during holy dip, five professional swimmers were
assigned at each Pushkar Ghat in the district, he said.
He said that a doctor with staff would render services to the pilgrims in all 28 pushkar ghats in round the clock in shifts
The ICDS staff and volunteers would render help to the PHCs and the aged to undertake a pushkar bath.
Wheel chairs and stretchers will be made available to be used in
emergency. To control the devotees at ghat and temple places, services
of NCC , NSS and Satya Sai Service organisation would be utilised.
The Department of Electricity is directed to supply uninterrupted
power at the ghats, vehicle parking and holding places during the
pushkaram days.
He informed that for the convenience of pilgrims the district
administration was planning to unveil a mobile APP besides a help line
with phone number 08682- 245101 arranged at district collectorate.
SP Prakash Reddy informed that department of Police would be
deputing 6,765 Personnel including officials and cops for the safety and
security of devotees at pushkar ghats and to regulate the traffic
during pushkaralu days.
As a part of Security as many as 180 CCTVs would be arranged at
Ghats, Temples, Parking and holding points, he added. Joint Collector
Dr N Satyanarayana and Additional Joint Collector Venkat Rao were
present.
