Drizzle disrupted the Pushkaram works
relating to the construction of bathing ghats and roads development in
the city for two days on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Irrigation department is developing six bathing ghats in the
city limits. These works are getting delayed due to the constant
drizzle. Also, the huge task of shifting the garbage from Krishnaveni
and Padmavathi ghats, downstream of Prakasam barrage is yet to be
completed.
Trucks could not operate in these ghats due to the rain in the
last two days. With workers also reluctant to complete the works at
Durga Ghat, District Collector Babu A vented his ire at them.
Not a single worker was present when the Collector inspected the
Durga Ghat on Wednesday. He immediately pulled up the officials for
their negligence.
Road development works on Eluru Road and other parts of city were
also disrupted due to drizzle. Traffic snarls are being witnessed at
Chuttugunta Junction, Vijay Talkies Junction and Beasant Road due to
slow progress of development works.
