Vijayawada: The ongoing Krishna Pushkaralu works
in Vijayawada were affected with the Roanu cyclone. As the city has been
witnessing incessant rainfall for the last 48 hours, the works were
affected.
It may be noted here that the State government launched the
flyover works near Kanaka Durga temple ghat road and national highway
expansion works in Krishna Lanka along with widening of several city
roads as part of Krishna Pushkaralu works.
In addition, the officials started the evacuation of Krishna river
bank to construct new bathing ghats. The government is planning to
develop bathing ghats at a stretch of more than 2 km starting from ferry
village to Prakasam Barrage on the lines of bathing ghats developed
during Godavari Pushkaralu at Rajahmundry.
As the city has been witnessing rainfall for the last two days,
the officials stopped works at several places as the entire area turned
slushy making it difficult to carry out the works. The officials pressed
JCBs into service to remove encroachments alongside several roads in
the city and started filling the margins to widen the roads in the city
in view of Krishna Pushkaralu. Vehicle users were forced to take
diversion at several places with the ongoing road widening works.
Meanwhile, the Endowments officials also started the development
works at Sri Kanaka Durga Temple. As per the master plan, the government
decided to demolish some structures around the temple to provide
circulating area for devotees on the lines of Mada Street in Tirumala.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting and directed the officials to expedite Krishna Pushkaralu works.
