The celebartion of krishna pushkaralu start's from 12 August and ends on 23 August 2016.
Krishna Pushkaralu, a 12-day festival of worshipping the river is held once in 12 years. Every 12th year Jupiter’s entry into the constellation Virgo (Kanya rasi) marks the Pushkaram for Krishna. The celebrations include reverence of ancestors, spiritual discourses, devotional music and cultural programmes.
Theoretically, the festival lasts as long as Jupiter remains in the corresponding zodiac sign (generally, for one year).
However, it draws major crowds only during the first 12 days. The first twelve days are known as Adi Pushkaram, and the last twelve days are called Anthya Pushkaram.

The Krishna Pushkaralu lasts as long as (generally, for one year) Bruhaspati (Jupiter) remains in the Kanya (Virgo) zodiac sign. But normally, we celebrate Krishna Pushkaram during the first twelve days of Jupiter enters into Kanya sign.
The first twelve days are known as AdiPushkaram, and the last twelve days are called AnthyaPushkaram. It is believed that during the Krishna Adi and anthyaPushkaram period, “Pushkar” the person, who is imbued with the power to make any river holy, will travel with Jupiter as Jupiter moves from one Zodiac house to another.

After the Ganga, Godavari and Brahmaputra, Krishna River which is also called as called Krishnaveniis the biggest river in terms of water inflows and river basin area in India. The river is almost 1,300 kilometres long and it is a major source of irrigation for Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The Krishna river’s source is at Mahabaleswar near the Jor village in the extreme north of WaiTaluka, Satara District, Maharashtra in the west. It flows through the state of Karnataka before entering Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh States. Krishna River empties into the Bay of Bengal at Hamasaladeevi (near Koduru) in Andhra Pradesh, on the east coast.

Krishna Pushkaram 2016 dates are starts on 12th Aug 2016 immediately after Jupiter (Brihaspati) enters into KanyaRashi (Virgo). Krishna Pushkaram will be organized for 12 days from 12.08.2016 and upto 23.08.2016.
